Per our discussion earlier today, Metric is recommending that
you hold off on passing the sea turtle lighting ordinance at this time. The
Coastal Construction Control Line permit with FDEP (also coordinated with FWC)
is still in progress and sea turtle lighting issues and standards are the key
issue still being addressed. If the ordinance were passed in its current form it
may need to be amended or updated almost immediately thereafter, based on
subsequent requests from these state agencies.
As soon as we have the final lighting evaluations and
comments from these agencies, we will notify you of any final edits to the
proposed ordinance and recommend that you proceed with its
passage.
